IELTS® Course Description

This course will help students develop their listening, reading, writing and speaking skills in preparation for the IELTS® Test. In this course students will learn test taking strategies to help them reach their IELTS® test score goal. Students will prepare specifically for the listening and speaking modules, as well as the Academic Reading and Writing components. Mini tests will be administered throughout the course to track the students’ progress. This elective course is open to students whose English level is at the equivalent of CEP Level 5 or higher. Students can use this course to prepare for Concordia Univerisity's CELDT or McGill Univeristy's TELP test. Students may be required to take the MEPT and/or oral assessment before entering this class.

IELTS® Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

1. Improve their listening, speaking, academic reading and writing skills.
2. Develop test-taking strategies specifically for the IELTS® test.
3. Improve their IELTS® test scores in all four skills.

 

IELTS® Course Components

1. Class Participation: Try your best to come to all your classes and participate in them.
2. Quizzes: Your teacher will administer mini-tests to track your progress.
3. Small Projects: Your teacher may give you small individual or group assignments and homework.
