Description of Activities
Meet and chat with your fellow students, and try foods from all over the world! Our last student Potluck was a big success, and this time we’ve thrown in the added pleasure of live entertainment! We want to know what you can do, so sign up for the talent show and showcase your talents for us! Otherwise, come and enjoy the food and the show with great people!
We will be taking a trip to Montreal’s famous amusement park! Get a healthy dose of adrenaline at this day of roller-coasters and sunshine! There is something for everyone here; catch a glimpse of the whole city from the top of the Ferris wheel, or before rushing down the summit of the Goliath, and if you’re interested, catch the China fireworks from the stands afterwards! Don’t forget to pack a lunch!
This is your last chance to enjoy the Fireworks Festival, and the Closing show is sure to be a blast. We have seen shows from all over the world, and there have been some fantastic sights, so come wrap up this summer’s fireworks season with GEOS! We will be watching from the Jacques-Cartier Bridge near Papineau Metro, so meet us there at 9:00pm to catch a good seat!
Fans of blues and of music in general will enjoy a great week as FestiBlues presents great artists and musicians throughout the city! Join us when we head to Ahuntsic Park to see two Canadian Blues artists performing live and free shows! There will be a relaxing atmosphere and cool grooves to move to.
The city’s Italian Community will be hosting the 2008 Italian Week featuring many shows and festivities! Based in Montreal’s Little Italy, and with shows taking place all over the city, we will be celebrating Italian culture and lifestyle – including art exhibits, wine tastings, sports tournaments, and an “Hommage à Pavarotti” concert. Come have fun with GEOS and the gang, led by your very enthusiastic Italo-Canadian Activity Coordinator!
Join GEOS students on the soccer field and play it out, meet new people, get some exercise and fresh air, and enjoy the summer with us! A great way to work off the stress and inhibitions of the week, the school and its students have been organizing soccer matches throughout the summer months and have seen some great talent pass through this city! Take this chance to join FC GEOS and show us what you’ve got!
Pull out your hiking shoes, because we’re going to leave the classroom behind and take a walk up Mont-Royal mountain. The hike will start from the south side of the mountain and we will slowly work our way to the summit, possibly catching the sunset from the lookout and catch a glimpse of Montreal’s downtown and beyond. A great way to end the week.
One of the most popular and unique experiences you will encounter in Montreal in the summer. Along with the foam army, the Tam-Tams draw crowds from all corners of the city and fill Mont-Royal with awe-inspiring life and energy. Every Sunday, we will take a break from it all and go with the flow around the Angel Statue in Mont-Royal Park.
GEOS will be continuing the tradition this month with great movies every Monday. This month we will be showing Rush Hour 2, some/all of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and Pleasantville. Enjoy them free, with free popcorn and snacks, starting at 5:30pm Mondays!

![]() For me, it has been a unique opportunity to meet new people, but more than this, to feel the atmosphere and the cultural diversity. I am staying with a host family and it has been a pleasure for me to be in touch with a Canadian family. every day, it has been a new adventure. I and my friends enjoy walking around the city to "discover" monuments, museums, art galleries, and so on. We have coffee at the cafeteria to try the typical food from Canada. We are really having a good time here and for sure we will have very good things to tell our families in Brazil. For sure we will miss Canada a lot. Debra and Rossana Brazil |
