GEOS Montreal ESL Staff Review Testimonial    My internship at GEOS Montreal
Finding the right internship for us is like choosing a career. You want to find a place where you like your tasks, you like the people you are working with and where you can achieve your professional and academic objectives.
To finish my degree in Animation and cultural researches (Social Communication) at University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), I had to do an internship in one of the many domains we can choose from after our degree. Of course, we get much help from University to find one that matches our interests and we can choose from a list of places offering internships. I chose to contact GEOS Montreal and now that I’m almost done, I can say that I made the right decision.
As soon as I started working at GEOS, I felt very welcome by the staff and by the students studying at GEOS. As the activities coordinator, I am in charge of the activities program. My tasks are clear and I am free to create and organize any kinds of activities to help the students discover and enjoy the beauties of Montreal.
I was able to develop myself professionally and on a personal basis as well. Not only did I could put my skills in profits, but I learned so much about other cultures, which is, in my point of view, the best things you can learn in this flat world. I don’t know exactly what I want to as a career, but I know for sure that I want to work with people coming from different cultures and backgrounds.
Even if I have been living in Montreal for 22 years, I have never enjoyed my own city as I enjoy it now. I discovered it all over again by showing it around to the students and I developed a real passion for it and for the history of Quebec.
Leaving GEOS will certainly be very difficult emotionally, but I’m more than happy and grateful to have had the opportunity to do my internship there.
